Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. is a leading global pharmaceutical company operating in 60 countries with over 45,000 employees. The company produces an impressive 88 billion tablets and capsules annually at 80 manufacturing facilities.
To maintain consistency in their online presence, Teva developed a 'Standard Country Site' (SCS) based on their digital guidelines. This allows countries to easily and cost-effectively create their website in line with Teva's online guidelines. In June 2018, the first market began using the SCS, and Teva sought a design partner to further optimize and expand the SCS components and templates.

“Rubylibre helps us on multiple levels, namely visual design, creating a consistent digital identity, clear UX and efficient frontend component management.”
Samuel Driessen - Head of Global Commercial Digital Platforms and Operations
Samuel Driessen: "The Frontend Library that has been developed, is a central instrument in the way we develop and manage our external channels. Rubylibre works with our internal team in a pleasant way. They operate swiftly and with care."
Rubylibre provides ongoing design support for Teva's Standard Country Site (SCS), including creating new and updating existing templates, aligning templates with other developments, and designing new templates and components based on needs from active markets. They also designed a new global website (.com). The templates and components they deliver include functional specifications, content models, visual and interaction designs, and frontend code.
The SCS caters to the needs of 50+ different countries, and Rubylibre's approach is to have a clear understanding of the challenges each country faces, Teva's business and online strategy, and the business and technical requirements. They work in close collaboration with Teva to gather feedback from all relevant stakeholders and country teams.
Rubylibre delivers designs in working frontend code, with clear instructions for functionality, interactions, and content architecture. This makes handover to the technical partner responsible for implementation in Optimizely more efficient and saves time for communication and art direction. We also created an underlying design system, in the form of a Frontend Library, containing all current elements, components, patterns and templates, that allows for continuous improvement.
Rubylibre continues to work on improving the Teva design system and it is now used for dozens of product sites and local commercial platforms, which have their own branding but use the Teva design system overlayed.
